MATRESCENCE & ME

A MOTHER-BABY CIRCLE

A recurring mother–baby circle focused on *you* and your Matrescence journey, with gentle monthly themes. This is not a parenting class. It’s a space to understand the person you’re becoming.

NOT your Mama’s Mommy & Me group!

(It’s way better!)

Motherhood changes you

MATRESCENCE & ME is a gentle, ongoing space for mothers and their babies to gather, reflect, and talk honestly about that transformation.

This is not a class and not a program to complete. It is a circle you can step into when you need support, language, or connection.

Come once.

Come often.

Come when you can.

What is Matrescence?

Matrescence is the process of becoming a mother.

It is a physical, emotional, and identity shift that unfolds over time, not just in the early postpartum period.

Many mothers are never given language for this transition. Instead, they are expected to adjust quietly, made to believe they can and should “bounce back “quickly, and carry the mental and emotional load without support. Matrescence & Me is designed to give language and support during this transition.

How is Matrescence & Me different

than other Mommy and Me groups?

Many mother and baby groups focus on babies.
How to soothe them. How to stimulate them. How to do motherhood “right.”

Others function as a place to vent, trade survival tips, or pass time. That support can matter, but it often leaves the mother unseen and unheard.

Matrescence & Me is different.

Matrescence is:

About the mother.

About the identity shift that happens when you become responsible for another life.

About the developmental stage and the emotional, physical, relational, and social changes that unfold on the inside, often without language or support.

All mothers deserve support during their Matrescence journey.

Many mothers are told, directly or indirectly, that if they are coping ok, surviving, or not in crisis, they do not need support. But this is not true.

Matrescence does not only show up as distress. It shows up as:

  • feeling unlike your old self, even when things are “fine”

  • feeling more reactive, tender, or emotionally full

  • feeling disconnected from your body or unsure of your needs

  • feeling like something has changed, but not knowing how to name it

You do not need to be struggling to benefit from understanding what is happening to you.

Matrescence & Me is not parenting advice and it is not a baby playgroup. It is a space for mothers to slow down, reflect, and make meaning of the transformation they are already living inside.

This is not about fixing you.
It is about giving language, context, and connection to a transition most mothers are expected to navigate alone.

What this space is

Matrescence & Me is an ongoing, drop-in circle designed to meet mothers where they are. Each gathering includes:

  • a short, accessible teaching on a Matrescence-related theme

  • time for reflection through writing, art, or gentle body-based prompts

  • optional sharing and connection with other mothers

  • space for mothers and babies to be present as they are

  • There is no expectation to attend every week and no pressure to speak. Listening counts. Being present counts. Showing up imperfectly counts.

Who this is for

Matrescence & Me is for anyone doing the work of mothering. This space is for you if:

  • you feel changed by motherhood and want language for that change

  • you are tired of trying to meet impossible standards

  • you want support that honors context instead of pathologizing normal reactions

  • you want community without pressure, fixing, or performance

  • you want a space where babies are welcome and mothers do not have to apologize for them

You do not need to be newly postpartum to belong here!

What to expect

Each gathering lasts 75-90 minutes and follows a consistent, gentle flow:

  • arrival and settling

  • brief teaching

  • reflection activity

  • optional sharing

  • closing grounding moment

Babies are welcome. Noise, movement, and interruptions are part of the space. You do not need to manage or minimize your baby in order to belong. In-person spots are limited. There is an option for ZOOM for those who prefer to meet virtually or if we meet capacity for in-person spots. Zoom is also a great option for Mothers with older children.

Mothers who think they don’t need this

If you’re thinking:

  • “I’m doing okay.”

  • “Other people probably need this more than I do.”

  • “I don’t really have time for something like this.”

You are likely exactly who this space was created for.

Matrescence & Me is not a response to failure.
It is a form of care that recognizes becoming a mother is a profound life transition, and honors it.

You do not have to wait until you are overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected to deserve support.
